The project documents their workplaces — the botteghe — in their everyday reality, with no manipulation of objects or light. The craftsman is absent. His presence is sensed, but it is not known whether, or when, he will return. The workshop stands empty — a silent witness to the gradual disappearance of traditional trades and, with them, of centuries of the culture of knowing how to make things by hand.
