Highlights from our Past Year

The past year at Hargesheimer Kunstauktionen was marked by exceptional consignments and strong results across a broad range of collecting fields, reflecting both the depth of our expertise and the trust placed in us by collectors, estates, and institutions.

Among the year’s notable highlights was a rare Renaissance drawing by Antonio Campi, Figurenstudie (circa 1566), which achieved €20,500. The result underscored sustained international demand for Old Master works distinguished by quality, provenance, and scholarly relevance.

Modern sculpture also played a significant role in the year’s successes. Works by Ernst Barlach, including Kussgruppe I (1921), attracted strong collector interest, reaffirming the lasting appeal of early twentieth-century sculpture characterised by emotional intensity and historical depth.

In the field of modern art, paintings such as Karl Schmidt-Rottluff’s Taunuslandschaft (1941/1942) resonated with collectors seeking works of expressive clarity and cultural significance. The strong response highlighted the continued relevance of German Expressionism within an international context.

Beyond individual results, our auctions encompassed significant works from Old Master painting, nineteenth-century art, icons from the Orthodox world, and historical works of art. Each was presented with the same commitment to research, contextual precision, and careful market placement.

These achievements were supported by close collaboration across our specialist departments and by a consistently international audience. Together, they define a year shaped by quality, expertise, and enduring engagement with the art market.

As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to presenting exceptional works with care, integrity, and scholarly depth—ensuring their thoughtful transition from past to present, and into the collections of the future.
