The department of Modern & Contemporary Art is characterized more than almost any other area by a variety of significant artistic upheavals and developments: whether works of abstraction or figuration, from Classical Modernism, through art after 1945, to contemporary positions.

The various currents and lines of development of modernism find their counterpart in the design of everyday objects in beautiful and at the same time useful things.
